Yeah, Surrogates was pretty good.
keep hearing good things about the new xmen... guess I need to see it
I hate waiting for weekly TV shows!
I'm more of a guy that watches shows on a marathon type of viewing schedule.....hehe
Last night I watched Whale Wars because I saw a commercial for it. Meh, don't get me started......
haha..
yeah, I much prefer watching a season after it has aired. I'm so behind on some shows, or don't have time to watch some shows, that I often end up not being able to watch a season until after it airs anyway. So then, instead of taking 15+ weeks to watch a season, it takes less than one week :D
like, last night I watched half of the 4th season of Beauty & the Geek.. and tonight I'll probably see the other half :D
Witchboard and now The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on Blu Ray.
Watched a bunch of Auction Wars and a couple episodes of Oddities.
if MythBusters has taught me anything, it's that catching something on fire is almost always tougher than it seems. But explosions are fun.
yeah :)
Gf added "How Do You Know" to the Netflix qeue and didn't know it so it showed up and we watched it last night... Wanted to kill myself by the end of the movie... lol SOOOOOOOO dull I just couldn't even follow it and by the end of the movie I felt like I'd literally wasted that 2 hrs of my life as I didn't even remember what the movie was about. Just thought I'd rant about it in case someone else has a woman that suggests watching it haha
sometimes there's a reason you haven't heard of a film :D
You should of used the fall asleep trick.....hehe
Quigley Down Under.. from 1990
it's Tom Selleck in a western film, set in Australia. I first saw this not too long after it came out and enjoyed it then. I still enjoy it now. It's a freakin' noisy piece of print... even in Blu-Ray form (what I just watched), but it's still good. It's a classic western film.. great characters, great feel, good bad guys, good gun play, a couple of laughs, and an awesome sound track. If you like western's it's worth seeing, I think.
And he has a 10 foot long gun.
keeping with the theme of 'angry Australian rancher' movies... I watched both Man from Snowy River movies today.
The first movie is a classic. It's from 1982, and it really shows in the beginning with how unpolished some of the setup for the story is. But once the story gets going the movie just pulls you in. If you like horses then this is a must-see. It's also quite good as a western. This movie has some of the best horse sequences you'll ever see. It's definitely worth a watch.
The movie ends by practically telling the viewer that a sequel is coming. It's too bad that the sequel just doesn't hold up. Called either 'Return to Snowy River' or simply 'The Man from Snowy River II', one of the main characters from the first film (played by Kirk Douglas) is replaced by someone else that looks and acts nothing like him. Kirk Douglas also played a second character in the first movie, who is said to have died by the second movie. The movie was released in 1988.. but they make no indication as to how long it's been between the movie settings. It starts off slightly better than the first as far as quality goes, but the story never really gets going, and it just seems like they fall back on copying the first movie's best sequences too many times. The horse riding is still spectacular, but there's less of it. What little chemistry was shown between the two characters in the first movie's love story also seems to be gone in this second movie. I suppose it's worth watching as a sequel of the first, but mostly because the first movie doesn't end very conclusively, and the second movie does. The second movie rather sucks on its own, I think.
The wife and I watched a Adam Sandler movie last night called "Just Go With It." The movie had some typical goofy Sandler stuff in it and the movie was totally predictable but was ok to watch.
Watching a bunch of "Obscura" in a bit of a marathon.
Interesting stuff.
The Adjustment Bureau is still good. Of course, it's not really the same when you already know what's going to happen.. but I think it holds up pretty well the second time around. It's still an awesome love story with great acting and a nice feeling presented throughout.
I watched myself doing some Audi B6 RB4 cluster reprogramming without GEKO today. I enjoyed it ;)

Needed more blood and guts, but once the action picked up (just over an hour into the movie) it was pretty good.
The Good Shepherd
this is a long & complicated movie that I wouldn't recommend most people watch. Most people will probably think this is a boring movie.
I saw the movie once in the theater (2006) and watched it again today. It's not a movie I could watch much more frequently, but I definitely still enjoyed it. It's a slow & evenly paced movie that bounces back and forth from the 40s and 50s to 'present day' early 60s, and deals with the start of the OSS and then the CIA. It's mostly true-to-life, with fictionalized characters that often closely match the happenings surrounding real-life people. There is no action, and it's easier to have a good understanding of what's happening if you have some knowledge of the history surrounding the sequences in the movie. This movie doesn't hand much information over to the viewer, so it requires a lot of paying attention.
Although full of well known actors, the acting is often done much more through facial expression than through speech. This fits the story and characters very well, since it's about the CIA, not being able to trust anyone, broken families, etc.
Pay attention to the actors' faces, recall whatever you can about the history of the times covered, watch every scene carefully, and don't expect anything close to an action or thriller type of movie, and you may enjoy the depth as I have. Otherwise, it's probably not worth trying to watch. From what I've seen elsewhere, most people think this movie, and the acting, sucked. :(
I remember seeing The Good Shepherd a while back. I thought it was pretty good, and that is coming from someone whose preferred genre of movies is horror.
