Watching Bladerunner: The Final Cut on Blu Ray right now.
Watched Skyline the other night. It was an alright movie. Kinda intense but the ending was kinda terrible. Almost made you feel like you completely wasted your time. It seemed to end right at the most important part.
new season of Top Gear UK starts tomorrow... http://finalgear.com
Can't wait for Top Gear UK!
Coming to this thread reminds me I need to watch those 3 shows that AUDI_IT24 mentioned.
Those shows are...
1) Falling Skies
2) Franklin & Bash
3) Workaholics
I really enjoyed the premiere of Falling Skies. I hope it lasts.
I'll probably wait for Falling Skies until it's been on for a bit. I'm not in the mood to wait from week-to-week for a new show right now
I watched a bunch of "Workaholics" and cracked my arse up!
I think i've watched 6 episodes so far?
watching mythbusters tonight... then I'll probably finish watching BSG. I kept up with that show right up to the first couple episodes in season 4 and then stopped watching for some reason. It's taken two tries since, but I'm finally almost done watching the show. This time around I started watching from the beginning a few months ago. Three more episodes to watch..
BSG... I think.. is one of the best tv series in the US over the last couple of decades. It was quiet popular, but I really think it deserved a lot more attention than it got. Great show..
Watched a bunch of the Whale Wars season 1....those guys are crazy!
I'll watch Mythbusters later today.
Just watched season 1 of The Guild (via Watchtheguild.com). First time through was on DVD, I thought I'd see how the quality is like online.
Went to dinner, drinks and a movie with the guys and saw the latest Transformers.
Its amazing how far animation has come over the years!
just got back from Transformers 3 myself. I really wasn't planning on watching the movie in theaters after how Transformers 2 ended up (I did buy the first movie), but I've heard a lot of people say they liked it so I thought I'd give it a shot.
It's definitely better than the 2nd movie... and in some ways it's better than the first. The thing I liked the most was how they slowed down action during some of the fight sequences between autobots & decepticons. In the previous movies I could never follow what was happening during these sequences.. it was all just a big blur of computer graphics to me. This time around I was actually able to see what was happening for at least most of the fights.
I don't think I've seen so much animation in a live action movie since Star Wars Episode 3. This movie also had to have had the largest amount of effects shots and action sequences in any movie for a long time. The last half of the movie was almost entirely non-stop action. It got to be so long that the director and/or DP started doing random shots like showing a gun POV from a soldier... which seemed completely out of place. The action was pretty good.. I just found myself wondering how I had been able to stay at all interested with so much action for so long.
I also noticed some rather weird sound editing at times during the action.. where it appeared that one sound was being singled out for no apparent reason. The mixing just seemed a bit off at times. On top of that there was a distinct lack of 'huge sound' when big things happened, like a massive decepticon ship crashing into the ground. You hear a bit of a boom.. but that's it.
There were some things that just left me wondering 'wtf?'.. like, how a building could just stay leaning 45° with apparently nothing holding it up, or how a Tomahawk missile can adjust its heading on a dime to randomly fly over a bridge rather then under. I also laughed a bit when I noticed how visible the roll cages were in many of the stunt cars.
Speaking of the cars... it's not all GM products any more. There was an SLS AMG and a 458, among other non-GM vehicles. The brand placement was huge in the movie as well: random fedex boxes all over every office, Cisco, Fox News, etc. Such blatant brand placement still kind of pulls me out of a movie...
The movie actually had some good humor.. got a few people laughing. There were also a few subtle bits that I enjoyed.. like when some autobots were watching a Star Trek show "where Spock goes crazy" earlier in the movie. I won't say much else other than to point out that one of the major characters is voiced by Leonard Nimoy :D . I like movies that don't make absolutely everything clear to the viewer, so little touches like this were nice to see.
The acting.. well... much of it was rather sub-par, as is to be expected given the actors in this movie. The girl was pretty horrible, I think. LaBeouf is still the same, but with a lot less "woah woah woah" lines (and thus, more tolerable). I did enjoy seeing others in the movie though, like John Turturro, John Malkovich, Alan Tudyk, and Ken Jeong's character was great relief in the middle of the movie. Buzz Aldrin making an appearance was pretty cool as well.
I enjoyed the movie. If you liked either of the first movies then you'll like this one. This one was slightly more intelligent than the first two and packed a ton more action.. but it also actually had more of a story than the first two did. This movie even had enough back story that you probably don't need to have seen either of the first two movies to see this one.
and then... how badass is this image?

Just started Dark House. It's got Jeffrey Combs in it, so it should be interesting.
After a quick walk I decided to start White Fang. It's the one with Ethan Hawke. As good as I remember it being.
Rookie of the Year.
Took my daughter to see cars 2 the other day. Not nearly as good as the first one but watchable. It was too focused on Mater. It's probably cause Larry the Cable Guy bugs the hell out of me. Now he did go off with some VW rambling about different aircooled cars so that gave me a chuckle. Every time the spy car talked all I could think of was Austin Powers Fasha.
I have 187 movies on my movie wish list. :D
And 107 books on my book wish list. :P
2nd episode of this season's Top Gear just showed up online
Just finished season 3 of The Guild. Will start season 4 in a bit.
