Just got back from seeing Cabin In The Woods. Truly excellent. One of the best movies to come out the last few years. Also, great use of a Unicorn.

that movie looks like something I'd like to see if it was more of a fantasy thriller and less of a horror/suspense thing
We Bought a Zoo
I knew this movie would be good.. but corny. I was right. I watched it because Scarlett Johansson is in it. She really doesn't have a huge part in the film since the story is mostly about Matt Damon's character and his kids, but oh well :P
So yeah.. good movie. It might make you cry a little at times. It's predictable. It's definitely also corny at times.. almost too perfect or silly. The highlight (for me) was seeing Matt Damon's character go through photos of his late wife... and they were so obviously professional photos. It just wasn't realistic. I also got a little caught up with how needing "$100 - $150 thousand" to get the zoo up to standards... never mind the operating costs of paying employees, feeding animals, etc... turned into a much smaller amount, while they some how still pull through (no surprise.. I did say the movie is predictable).
It's worth watching.. you can't really feel bad about it. It's one of those feel good movies where nothing too bad happens.
Watching Taken right now by myself. Haha. What a boring Friday night but this movie is great none the less.
and.. watched Fanboys. Stupid at times.. but I expected that. Overall it's a good tribute to Star Wars fandom. I really enjoyed all of the references.
Leap Year.. I've seen it before, but for some reason I was in the mood to watch it again yesterday. The first time I watched it I think my thoughts were mostly that it is silly and predictable.
I'm actually a little torn with this movie. It's a "romantic comedy", which means that it' not really a good romance, drama, or comedy movie. It's not bad though. It's predictable and the primary character, played by Amy Adams is pretty stupid. She's a typical ignorant-American-visiting-another-country.. which really annoys me. But her being that character is also what really makes the movie. That conflict helps her meet the guy, creates a little comedy at times, and helps a little romance to show.
I'm torn because Amy Adams is freakin' cute.. yet her character is ignorant. If I knew her character in real life I'd seriously dislike her.
Any way.. if you can get passed the lack of surprise throughout, and the character stupidity, it's not too bad of a movie. I'm not a fan of romantic comedies in general... I want them to be good, because I'm a sap, but most of them just aren't. So with that in mind, this one is watchable, and seeing a cute red head and good looking Irish guy throughout helps :D
So the other day on The Howard Stern Show they were talking about how good of a show Breaking Bad is so I watched Season 1 Episode 1 today.
Pretty good show!
Underworld Awakening
you can tell the budget was less.. the story isn't really there. But it does have the previous movies to rely on, along with bringing Kate Beckinsale back. This movie has action... and by action I mean lots of killing. It's violent from the beginning and continues through most of the movie. It continues the story pretty well and kind of makes you want to see another sequel afterward. I have to give them credit for continuing a series that was kind of failing back into something that's still watchable.
I kind of want to see Underworld: Awakening, but I think the next movie I go see will be The Raven. After that will probably be Dark Shadows.
Underworld Awakening will be out on dvd/blu-ray/whatever soon.. just watch it then. I was thinking about seeing it when it was in the theatres and just never got around to it. Having seen it now, I don't think I would have regretted it.. which surprises me :D
Yeah, I think I'll wait for the Blu Ray. :P
so, if I wanted to go watch recent seasons of Dr. Who, how might I be able to do that for a reasonable price? I'm not finding much in the way of complete seasons online. Does netflix have complete recent seasons? anything else?
I could upload my copies. :P
Just finished the original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Can't wait to finish the trilogy and then maybe check out the remake and wee if it's any good.
Will be watching Grimm in a little while.
wee?
Yeah, this keyboard can't spell to save its life.
Just finished The Girl Who Played With Fire.
watched 'Easy A' again last night. I was hoping to watch Pay It Forward, but I couldn't find it, so... some how that let me to Easy A. It's a remarkably good movie considering how lame and cheesy it could have been. The acting is just over the top enough that everything fits together nicely. It's almost making fun of itself while throwing in a lot of quick references. It's quite funny at times as well.. and some how it's also still intelligent and comes with a couple of unexpected twists. It's the sort of movie that I feel a little guilty watching, but I still manage to enjoy doing so. And Emma Stone is looking good :P
Haha yeah I don't blame you there!
We get our moneys worth out of the account many times over!
The free 2 day shipping kicks the arse and the streaming videos is a big plus!
All I watched today were kids shows ....... Dr. Doolittle was one of the ones I remember.
I only order from amazon a couple of times a year.. so it's definitely not worth it for me. Netflix though.. I'd probably be rather happy with it. I've never felt like I needed it or wanted it badly, but if it has full seasons of shows I want to watch it might be worth it.
Haywire
the big reason to watch this movie is because of Gina Carano. But it also has Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, and Antonio Banderas. It's about a private contract covert op sort of girl who gets screwed over and fights her way back out of things. The acting is ok... nothing special. I did like the direction and editing choices to kind of draw out some scenes.. and there's a distinct like of music through most of the movie. The only thing I didn't like was not showing details for the rescue at the beginning.. plot-wise it wasn't super important I suppose, but I still would have liked to have seen this done better. If anything, it seemed out of place for the movie and was distracting.
There's a couple of twists but basically you get to watch some fighting and then Gina doing things to avoid people :P
not great quality overall.. but still very watchable
hmmmmmm... I may have to sign up for netflix :screwy:
