Won't be wasting my time with that show again. I wasn't the only confused on why I didn't when my class(only one trophy for each water cooled class), people actually tracked me down on Facebook later lastnight and sent me messages asking if I even got a honorable mention, because they thought I should have won. I had the only MKII was that fully detailed and on display, the others were barely washed and closed the whole show. Winner was friends with Tolliver and his "judges". They didn't look at all the cars registered for showing, their "judging" of my car lasted maybe 90 seconds. The car that beat me was stanced with wheels( guy also got best wheels). People that had talked to me at length about my car during the show were kinda hanging around it during the announcements, I was parked right across from the main info booth, all had a bewildered look when I didn't win.
I was pissed at first, but throughout the day I had more than a few lengthy discussion and let a couple of people get up close and personal with my car, for ideas for theirs. So I am calling it a win.

It happens at any show really. I wouldn't assume it was a friends thing... just poor judging in general. Most people who judge kind of suck at it. I've had "experienced" judges look at my car for a minute or two, ignore everything I was telling them, not look at my list of mods, ask a couple of questions for which the answer was something I had already mentioned, then move on. I was rated near the bottom at that show, even though the car was cleaner, had more things that would get points, had more things changed, etc from previous years where I'd won the class. It happens.. I was pissed.. but it happens. It's more fulfilling to show a car off and have people come by and appreciate the car. The next year I "showed" at PWL (different show than what I described above), but asked to not be judged. I had more fun that day..
It just really bothered me that I put the effort in and didn't actually get judged
I've never worried about winning anything at a show, even though it would be a nice acknowledgement of hard work. I'm still not sure if I want to bring the bunny out or not. It's pretty much "finished" at this point.
Do it! I want to see it! And wow I didn't realize how craptastic those pics look when I posted them from my phone last night.
Agreed, those pics are a bit grainy, but the car looks great, man. We were hoping to make it, but that weekend quickly got away from us. Sorry to hear about the poor judging, hoping for better results in the future for you.
Thanks! And I don't think it's the pictures as much as the lighting. Supposed to be a nice weekend coming up, good luck!
y'all should swing on over after the show is over, our house is only 2 miles away
Changed the oil and replaced the dual oil pressure sensor. The old one had in eternal leak and I don't do leaks. Going to be doing several little projects to it this week, go for Gold at waterwerks on the green.
