That is pretty close to where I am at now. I have a carbon fiber drive shaft in the works as well as a few other things I will post soon as they sort out. I am hoping to have the car up and running in the next six months or so....hahahahah...well as soon as possible.

I breezed through a bunch of the stuff I did above but there was a ton of time spent getting the details and engineering correct. This is not going to be a track car but more of a non-daily street car that might see some autoX time. I really enjoy the build and the challenges with trying to do something different.

This should turn out to be +/- 400hp/400tq in a 2600# package.... which should be super awesome. Interestingly the weight of the stock iron 4cyl/auto trans was within 20# of the aluminum V8 and standard trans. It is mounted slightly further back in the chassis too so I am expecting all of the great 190e handling to remain.

I am sure it will piss off most die hard Benz fans but I don't care.

I have only seen 1 100% completed and running online. Lots of issues to overcome to get any v8 into a 190 but I think worth it. The 1uz motor is quite fantastic from the factory - forged rods and crank, 32v dohc, 6 bolt mains, all aluminum etc and can take boost like the 2jz motors. I think this one was 265hp/265tq stock.

This is a really cool Corolla build with a similar set-up - although the SC is smaller.

Thanks for all the positive comments! Been about 6 months now of work when I can find the time.

My inspiration is the Reto Meisel race 190e with the Judd V8 - pure awesomeness.

    You forgot Ford.

Awesome build! I take it this is not your first rodeo. What other projects have you done?

Also, is the gearing in the trans very tall? Seems like 400ft-lb of torque with a 3.9:1 rear end would be really low gearing.

I have had a lot of cars over the last 25 years or so...probably 65-70ish? These are some that come to mind...not in any particular order...The 190e is the most ambitious build so far though.

    A lot of air cooled VW's beetles...mostly lowered "cal-look" 1958, 1960, 1964 Baja, 1967, (2) 1968, (3) 1955, 1956, 1957 and a 1954 rag top with semaphores.

    1969 VW Notchback

    1967 VW bus

    1971 914 Porsche

    1966 911 Porsche

    1973 Capri V6

    1973 RX2 Mazda

    1981 RX7 Mazda

    1984 GTI

    1987 GLI 2 door Jetta

    2001 New Beetle

    2011 Mustang

    1961 Falcon

1965 Falcon - big block FE

    1962 Biscayne

    1967 Mustang

    1987 Mustang 5.0 Notch

    1988 Mustang 5.0 Hatch

The first gear will be pretty useless...but 6th in that trans is pretty tall. My boss has a Cadillac CTS-V and it is the same way...really easy to just start in second.

I won't lie, that car may have had some influence on why I'm doing what I'm doing to the Cossie. Though I think this is a little closer to how I'd like it to be if I had unlimited funds:

I don't know why YouTube confuses the Klasse 1 with the Evo 2.

That car is awesome too - and a little more street-able as far as the bodywork goes.

I bought a new welder a while ago that had an aluminum spool gun option. The old Miller MIG I had a bit small (110v) for any serious steel work anyway - good up to 3/16". The new machine is good to about 1/2" steel / 1/4" Aluminum.

Anyway I have been practicing with scraps to get my results good enough to finish the intake manifold. I am pretty happy with where I am at now and will get going on finishing it up.

Just to throw this out there...I also have a 4'x4' CNC plasma table in case anyone needs anything custom cut...

The SC snout finally showed up ! now I can finish mocking up where it will sit on the manifold and in turn finish the welding.

It is a good 1.25" longer than the one on there now.

Are you going to be doing an A/W intercooler in the manifold?
And I'll definitely be in touch about the CNC plasma, very nice! I've just got a handheld one.

I am actually just going to do a water/meth injection set-up...Too hard to fit a proper inter cooler into the manifold. Lots of the big SC/Turbo Mustang guys are getting great results with just injection.

I did look at the "laminova" cores and kicked it around a bit but just too much work.

REALLY good ebay pricing on these cores right now:

Getting pretty good edge quality cuts off the table:

I have the intake welded up finally...a bit uglier than I would have liked but strong and should be air tight.

I found some time to work on the axle clearances still needed on the sub frame. I thought it best to do before I re-install....it is actually so there is no way the cv boots can rub.

I cut open the Sub frame with my plasma torch and am going to weld in some rounded 12g sheet metal filler panels to reinforce it again.
