    House progress

I thought I would add a separate thread for posting house reno progress pics....and the eventual new shop...instead of clogging up the Benz build thread.

Pressured washed the deck on the old house - part of getting it ready to list for sale later this week:

My existing shop 20' x 30' - going to miss it.

We are going from that backyard to this....so there will be a bit of work to do..

    New house kitchen redo..

Bye bye old kitchen - note the 7' high dropped ceiling - easy to see by the side window.

old floor out - tons of work

Getting pretty close to installing flooring and new cabinets finally. The majority of the ceiling is now at least 8' high.

Nice view from the eating area of the kitchen and of the vaulted roof in this space.

that 20x30 shop has only the one garage door that is in the photo?

holy cow removing that drop ceiling makes a large difference

Yeah - ceiling is waay better. Just one door 8' wide..kind of a pain but this is just the shop the house also has a garage attached that is for more daily in/out.

Nice, I love the old place. I know someone that's starting to collect vintage/70s teak furniture like some of that, trying to offload any? haha

That higher ceiling makes a world of difference, I'm sure.

Thanks - We have been collecting interesting mid century furniture for a while now - none for sale at this point.

Den/kitchen/eating area floor was a mess - totally not level and flat. Spent most of the weekend replacing some of the plywood subfloor, pouring self leveler in place to smooth the transition and then "morter-ing" in Ditra-heat membrane in the whole space. The Ditra is not cheap at all but worth it - both a fantastic anti-cracking membrane and has "risers" for stringing your in floor heating cables. It allows for pretty much the thinnest buildup under tiles.

In floor heat wiring will be done on Wed and tiling should be all done next week end.

New sub-floor at the end of the room.

    Congrats!

That tile looks classy, I like it. I don't envy you on the ceiling scrapping, though... although it is in my future as well.

Can't even imagine! I couldn't believe that amount of stuff we had stuffed into our one bedroom apartment and to sheds after 11 years.
