Adam... how come you didn't?
Okay... I'll cheat and give you another one of the bamboo plant in front of my house (taken with my D40 following a recent rain)

This one is from our trip to NYC this past spring. We were walking back from going to the observation deck of the Empire State Building (got some incredible night shots of Manhattan's cityscape, which I'll post later). I guess luck and timing were on my side... I heard a fire truck and quickly plastered my D40 against some scaffolding next to a building so I could get a steady shot (you can see some of it in upper left part of the frame). I caught it as it passed Macy's on 34th Street. Side note: we walked through midtown Manhattan from about 56th down past 30th or so that night. Couldn't believe the hoards of people out late. New York is truly the city that never sleeps.

Yes! Tyler's camera does work after all. And that looks like it was shot through familiar glass.
Shot with my cell going into work.

It was a dog-day afternoon on the waterfront here in Portland...

Jazzydub, that looks like Lahaina.
Here's my contribution for today (I promised you a nighttime NYC skyline shot)... shot of the Chrysler Building, taken with my D40 this past spring from the observation deck of the Empire State Building in mid-town Manhattan:

Joel, I highly recommend you visit... this past spring was my first time there. I ate some of the best halal on street corners there. For a foodie like me, NYC is heaven. It's also a city full of surprises. My wife and I are milling about through Times Square... it's almost midnight, and there's thousands of people out (keep in mind this is a Thursday night)... and a gaggle of models comes walking up with a photographer and start striking poses. I sort of look at my wife with my best "can I pleeeez?" photographer look on my face, and she says "go ahead!" Here's what came out of it:

some day I just might! One of my goals in life is definitely to drive across a country at least a couple of times.. ideally taking lots of state highways instead of the interstates. It'd require so much time off from work though that it'll have to be one of those times when everything is just right to allow me to do it

need to see just a little more of the side of the car, I think.
also, imo, move the car a little more away from the center of the photo (so that it's more in keeping with the golden ratio/rule of thirds)
