Let's take a stroll down automotive memory lane... show us what cool old cars you used to own!

    I wasn't always a Volvo nut.

The other day, I was taking a stroll down memory lane, looking through my car albums, and I thought I would share. I think this was in the 1985-1987 timeframe.

Here's my '74 Corolla SR-5 (TE-27). 3TC, dual 40 Webers, headers, cam, suspension, etc. LOL I used a Honda silver-blue color. Oh yeah, never mind the fuel pressure gauge mounted on the windshield cowl... I was young and stupid at the time.

Here's my '72 Corolla Sport Coupe (TE-25) with the SR-5 steel fender flares. This was the car with the 3TG (Yamaha twin-cam head) and dual 45 Mikunis, 5spd trans, TRD suspension and 3-pc wheels. It was wicked fast and handled like a go-cart. I think it did 14's on the 1/4 mile.

What cool old cars do you guys have from your past? Let's see them!

My first ride in '73. It was a beige color and it had rear fender skirts. $350 and 75K on the odo. Pushbutton starter and a flathead V8. My absolute favorite. Gave it to my dad and younger brother when I joined the Navy.

Not old, but old to me. I bought it new in 2004. The best car VW ever made:

Dude, if you had that thing now! Sorry, had to be that guy. I'll be saying the same thing about my R in 20 years. I was keeping it 100% stock for that reason. But sold it in 2006 because it appreciated.

All I have left is the memories <sigh>, some photos I still need to scan, and a few models. The car was cursed actually. A lot of bad things happened to me and the car in the short time I owned it.

Sound like my MKV GLI. That thing was destined to make a body shop owner rich. It was rear ended three times, keyed, poorly repainted and then a bicyclist rolled over my hood. Bad mojo. It's like the red attracted people to hit it.

my first car was a wonderul '85 Tercel 4spd hatchback.

bought it for $400 with 185k on it and almost everything was original (had been very well taken care of). I drove it to school and back in Pullman and to Iowa and back a bit later on. It started instantly every time, no matter how long it had been sitting under piles of snow in Pullman. It was actually reasonably quick too... the 1.5l got me up to 115mph a few times, and pretty easily passed cars on highways. Sold it for $100 with 225k on it, with a slipping clutch, cracked windshield, busted out side window (thanks a crazy room-mate who was arrested for domestic violence), and a bent rear bumper & fender thanks to some anonymous idiot in downtown Tacoma one night. Otherwise it was still in great shape though

While I still owned the Tercel I bought this '83 Cougar 5.0 (4spd AOD) for $900, I think. It had around 130k on it and was in fairly good shape, though some of the electrical things weren't working. It needed new tires badly and didn't do so well in the rain, but it was kind of fun.. all 130hp & ~200 ft-lb torque (from a 5.0 v8.. haha).

and while I had both of those I picked up my '85 GTI. I sold the Cougar off pretty quickly (had it less than a year), and sold the Tercel a couple of years later. I still have the GTI seven years later (though it's technically for sale). Somewhere in there, while I still owned the Tercel no less, I bought a '91 Jetta Carat, and picked up an '85 GTI roller with no engine. Both of those are gone now, and I have my '09 wagon as a replacement for pretty much everything.

I'm always willing to budge on price, especially if I start taking some of the rarer parts off the car.

My first car was a Yellow 2wd 1980 toyota pickup. I thought I'd never own another yellow car in my life until I got the ginster. I had a 2.0L jetta before the ginster... I guess my current is as cool as It gets.

Despite the prehistoric thread bump, I figured I'd play along. Here are my honorable mentions (I won't bore you with all the crap I used to drive).

'96 Ford Escort 1.9L SOHC Turbo (GT2860RS) (88hp stock) with all kinds of stuff. 200whp/270wtq and 2000lbs was a lot of fun, especially since nobody ever expected that out of an Escort.

'80 Porsche 924 Turbo with a Rustoleum orange roller paint job. Looked great from 10'

    -Alex @vexartmedia-
    '03 Audi S8 (Avus/Oxblood - DD)
    '92 Porsche 968 (VW 07k 2.5T swap in the works) --- '86 Audi Coupe GT (2.3L 20v swap) ---'83 Audi UrQuattro (2.2L 20vt swap in progress)
