Looking good. Looking forward to seeing you get everything else installed.
A Combination of last Saturday and this Saturday’s work, knocked some of the initial to do list off.
Last Saturday I changed the valve cover gasket (will upgrade to the rubber version later on), added an upper oil baffle and changed all the vacuum lines with mk1autohaus silicone ones. And I had nicer time belt cover laying around so I put it on.
Today I changed to O2 sensor, plugs, cap, rotor, spark plugs and plug wires. Also changed the oil pump(upgraded to the larger ABA one), oil pan gasket(upgraded to the rubber mk3 one),oil cooler seal and oil.
Discovered the oil pan bolts where barely tightened and there wasn’t a gasket at all. Not even any sealant.
While I was doing a test drive I hit 272,000 miles.

Need to catch this up! A couple of weeks ago I went to replace my the speakers and stereo, but it turned into me saying screw it. Ended up yanking most of the interior so I could scrub.
I did replace the rear speakers, yank all the old wiring, deleted the antenna, ran the SiriusXM antenna, was able to reuse the lower speaker baskets.
Old
New
Old vs. new

This morning I reinstalled the door cards and installed the new speakers. Wish I had test fitted the speakers before installing the first door card. To fit the stock grill I needed to reverse mount the speakers, so I had to take the door cards apart again to do that. You can see the difference in the first two pics.
Then I replaced all the coolant hoses, heater core, coolant bottle, coolant cap and installed the heater blower screen. The old coolant bottle was foul.

Looking nice. Next in line to be a show winner?
I don’t know about it being a winner, but if I show next season it will be the car I do it with. After 20 trophies and s magazine feature I think I proved my point with Jetta.

“On today’s episode of this old Scirocco”
Awesome
Just Popped in my head and made myself laugh.
Looks good. Going to register it as a Collector Vehicle and ditch the front plate?
Yep, the correct ‘83 plate just arrived the other day, going to do it before I put the euro bumpers on.
Registered it as a classic today, no more tabs ever, no more front plate, got the correct plate for it and tabs for the month and year it was made.
Installed the euro bumpers, first-aid kit, replaced some broken clips, installed some bling in the interior to brighten it up.
Polished door lock pulls, polished interior handle(got them from a Quantum) and polished window crank handle.
Then I vacuumed it out and gave it a quick bath.

The euro bumpers are so much better looking than the North American ones.
