Thread: The 82 caddy

  1. #1

    The 82 caddy

well, the story goes like this. tyler had this caddy. i had this hilux. he needed a more trucklike truck, i needed to dodge emissions as a result of my unplanned move to california. so a trade was struck.

this was the truck in '07

this was the truck in '10

as part of the deal, it was raised back to stock, and the ATS cups were not included.
1/2way up [or down, however you look at it]

    let the game begin

first off was to get the truck to sacramento. i bought some funky rims and tires from joe for cheap to get to sac

on the way we lost a tire in oakland, or

but swapped it out for the spare [which appeared origina] after inflating it with a bicycle tire pump that happened to be in the bed as part of the move [whew!]
after 11 grueling hours rolling like this...

we finally made it to sac.

first off, fix the tire/wheel situation to make things safer.
ordered these wheels from a friend that works at the parts counter here in sac. got a great deal. these are OEM Corrado G60 steelies. 15".

    and these tires

stuff should arrive next week. in the meantime, I put fix-a-flat into the spare [yeah it had a slow leak] and pray it doesnt die on me as I'm commuting in this thing.

tyler was kind enough to toss a carpet kit in the bed. tonight I got bored and started fitting it. it's a non-molded kit so it's a bit of a chore to fit, but it's coming along. a few days in the heat and some prodding and stretching and I should be able to get it to all line up. I need a sill plate.

I don't think the ones that are currently available from the dealer are metal...

Ok did some quick research. The caps in the ad are for a MKIII Golf/Vento/Caddy. They are plastic and will not clear oversize locking/keyed lugbolts.

my friend at the parts counter says the center caps are NLA
my tires arrived today, these wheels will be on by the end of the week!!!

It is funny how when watching a build thread that I notice more and more of the vehicles in the build.
By the time the build is over i'll probably want one.......hehe

They are not exactly NLA. They are discontinued though. I just called CN and they said Robert Larson has 4 in stock and there are a couple of other dealers around the country that still have some.
